Tahoe Tattoo Convention 2024

2nd place Best Large Tattoo

At the 7th Annual Tahoe Tattoo Show, Jose Cruz and Sly Williams captured 2nd Place in the Best Large Tattoo category with a stunning collaborative thigh piece. The tattoo featured a dramatic composition blending Jose’s signature black-and-grey realism with Sly’s bold color work, creating a seamless fusion of styles. The intricately layered design, rich in texture and depth, impressed both judges and attendees, standing out as a true testament to their artistic chemistry and technical precision.

2nd place Best Black & Grey Tattoo

Jose Cruz also walked away with a second award at the convention, winning Best Black & Grey with a large-scale thigh piece that exemplified his signature style—smooth gradients, high-contrast realism, and striking use of negative space. The piece featured lifelike textures and dramatic depth, capturing the attention of both judges and fellow artists.

Forty Mile Tattoo Convention 2025

1st place Best of Day

At the 2nd Annual Forty Mile Tattoo Convention, Angel22 took home 1st Place for Best of Day with a striking neo-traditional tattoo that blended bold linework, vibrant color palettes, and intricate detailing. The piece captivated judges with its balance of classic technique and modern flair, solidifying Angel22’s reputation as a rising force in the tattoo scene.

Ink Masters Season 16

Season 16

Tattoo artist Angel22 was a featured contestant on Season 16 of the reality series Ink Master. This season showcased a head-to-head competition between industry veterans (OGs) and up-and-coming talent (Young Guns), highlighting contrasting styles and generations of tattooing. Filmed in Toronto, Canada, the season premiered in October 2024 on Paramount+.

REALM shop mural

This striking mural, a collaboration between brothers and artists Johnny Angel and Jose Cruz, blends surreal imagery with lifelike detail, drawing viewers into a dreamlike world. It adorns the side of Realm Tattoo Studio at 2523 J Street in Sacramento, a neighborhood that has become an open-air gallery of creativity. Take a walk through the area and you’ll encounter many more murals, each adding its own voice to the community’s vibrant story.

Indigenous & Latino Heritage Mural Project

Artist Johnny Angel has been commissioned to create a new mural in Sacramento, celebrating the region’s Latino and Indigenous tribes. The artwork will be painted at Southside Park, located at 2115 6th Street, Sacramento, California. Stay tuned for more details soon.
